The Albemarle County Jail #5 Museum

Jail #5 is a new museum project that will allow visitors to explore the history of crime and punishment through the abandoned buildings of the 19th Century Albemarle County Jail Number 5.

The building is currently empty but will soon, with your help, become open regularly as a museum of incarceration and Albemarle and Charlottesville history. Click on the PLAN page to find out more about our plan for the space. Click the HISTORY page to find out the story of the jail and check the EVENTS page to find out what is happening at the museum.

Please give what you can to help us fund this project. You can become a Friend of the Jail by donating $20 or more.
